Select one studio portrait and answer: My fifth picture, Mark looking out the window

Describe the lighting in the shot. Where is the light coming from? How is it falling on the models face/head/body?Describe the shadows that are created in the photo.
The lighting is coming from the left side of the picture because of the window. It’s falling on his face on the left side and not hitting the right side, creating a dramatic effect. This dramatic effect is also due to the shadow on the right side of his face due to the lack of lighting.

How is the model situated? Is the photo a head shot, or did you include more of the torso? Is the model facing the camera, looking to the side, tilting their head…
The model is situated on a window sill, looking out the window. The photo is not just a head shot because i chose to include his shoulders. The model is sitting straight up, looking away from the camera and out the window.

Did you take a horizontal or vertical photo? What was your point of view? Did you shoot from above, below, from the side or on an angle? How close or far were you from the model?
I took a horizontal photo. The point of view was about eye level of both me and the model. I shot from an angel on the right side of the model. I was about 3 feet away from the model when the picture was taken.

What does the lighting, position of model and expression on face communicate? What aspect of the model’s personality is being revealed in the portrait? (serious, humorous, sad, anxious…)
The lighting, position of the model, and expression on the model’s face communicate a very serious mood due to the straight face and dark lighting. This reveals that Mark, the model, is a very serious person at times.

Compare the photo to another with a different impact/viewer response. How did you use different lighting, positioning or expression to communicate a different feeling?
This picture is very similar yet different to my fourth picture, which is my other picture of Mark. In picture 4, Mark is seen smiling and looking at the camera. The lighting on this picture is also brighter. This differs from picture 5 because picture 5 shows Mark straight faced and in darker light. Through this, I have given picture 4 a lighter mood. The picture are taken from the same point of view and both have natural lighting from the window.
